R230 SL55 - media unit & centre console upgrade

Per the title has anyone upgraded the main media unit to an apple play head unit? Just wondering if possible whilst retaining the Bose speakers. If so what unit worked? Has anyone changed the centre console to carbon - again if so where did you source this. Thanks for the input

This is a fairly common upgrade - although I haven't done mine.

I know that Dan Pightling has fitted these upgrades to SL55's

It's possible but expensive to replace the head unit however the speakers in the Bose system have their own individual amplifiers so you will need to source a new amp and replace all the speakers.

I believe the Bose system runs at 2ohm, and the amp has a bespoke digital link. It actually sounds quite good, though the interface is dated.
