Quite excited actually. I plan to use it for commuting, towing a track car or bike on a trailer and over time complete a camper conversion for track days away and race weekends, plus road trips and general travelling etc.

Won it on eBay for the princely sum of £811 and it's a 2006 model which appears to be rust free! On the downside, it has been stood since February, it has no current MOT and it needs a centre exhaust box, new rear ABS sensors and possibly a replacement turbo. The seller believes the wastegate is stuck shut...

It's a 111 CDI and I plan to get it mapped once I've serviced it and established that I'm happy with how it runs etc.

Already bought a tow bar from eBay and I haven't even got it yet laugh

Anybody here owned one and have any useful tips for me ahead of collecting it?

I had a mk1 for a while, they don't like standing around for a while (battery more than anything else) and respond very very well to a remap smile

Well I got it home. Turns out the seller thought the wastegate was stuck open, not closed. Anyway, it wasn't that! It was a long old drive home, the van was basically in limp mode and wouldn't rev over 3k, which made things... challenging! Once I had it home, I checked the fault codes. The codes came back as P2208 - NOx Sensor Heater Circuit bank 1 and P 2242 O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit High bank 2.

Cleared these and it came out of limp mode and appeared to run as it should, power wise. They soon returned, however. I now have a boot full of bits from Euro Car Parts and will attempt to put as much right as I can. NOx sensors sure aren't cheap though!! Planning to take mine off and soak it in injector cleaner to see if it can be saved. If not then I'll have to consider my options. I have no idea of the correct part number for my Vito and there seem to be a number of different versions out there.

I dud buy a new Bosch lambda. Just need to figure out where "bank 2" is on the 2.2 CDI. Oh, and last night the passenger door window went down, crunched and never returned... So that's now also on the list!

Ha, yes. After owning an R170 SLK I said "never again", yet here we are! I stopped updating this as there was very little response, but it's been a slow process. The van still isn't sorted but my time has been limited for working on it. I've sorted most of the faults and I purchased a Merc specific scan tool. The codes I was getting on it were false as it was flagging up sensors which my model doesn't have.

It's almost there. Slowly, but surely!
