looking to buy
Discussion
I'm after a quality, reliable economical(ish) car for work jouneys.
Looking at C class, maybe E. I have a budget of around £6000. I would seriously prefer Diesel.
What should i particularly be looking for, other than the normal car checks?
Autotrader has lots on offer, but what are the important considerations.
Thanks

I bought my W202 C250TD auto in September.
It had done 193k miles and never needed any major work doing on it. I've taken it up to 210k miles and it still hardly shows any signs of it age. Always starts immediately after the glowplugs.
I can thoroughly recommend one, the W202 is renouned as being the last overengineered Merc. The only problem with it is what to replace it with. Although later W203's are prettier mand more dynamic drives, they aren't as solid.
Another note is that the 220 CDi engine, fitted to later cars, apparently isn't as durable as the previous generation diesels, so that probably means they last as long as anyone elses diesels.
