Mercedes Benz A200 CDI 2.1 diesel

Just wondering would anyone be able to explain the such low bhp output on the Mercedes Benz A200 CDI 2.1 diesel been searching all day and can’t find anything at all

A quick Google search shows it has 136bhp.
A 2.0 vag diesel comes with about the same power (my A4 had just under 140bhp), although they can come in higher states of tune.
Why do you think 138bhp out of a 2 litre diesel is such a low power, or have I got that power figure incorrect?

No the information is correct I just think that a engine of this size should come with much more power when you see smaller engines with a lot more output and for example 2 litre a3 comes with 150 bhp standard I know it’s not much just find it strange

It's because they offer the same engine in varying states of tune. The 220 and 250 CDI use the same unit but with higher BHP

It's cheaper for them to have one engine offered with different levels of power, rather than 3 seperate sized versions.
