Went on line today to get a quotation for a service on our 5yo 350SLK, 26000 miles. ( first 4 years were under a monthly contract thing)
£753 inc VAT quoted for an A service and MOT, including £20 + VAT for use of the dealers lounge. To be fair the last bit was optional.........
Anyone know a good Independent near Norwich?

You can use this to see what the scope of a particular service is for MB cars:

Thanks Chris. Very helpful, and it shows that the price includes a transmission fluid change at £415 or so, so maybe not too bad overall.
Still seems a lot for a transmission oil change though?
I paid 175 for a fluid change at a local Merc specialist for my SLK. No-way I'd be paying 415 when there's much cheaper alternatives out there for the same service.Still seems a lot for a transmission oil change though?
I’ve just had my 350 serviced at a local independent garage. Mine is 3.5 years old so the automatic transmission change doesn’t come into play..yet.
The A service while technically an oil/filter change, there is a lot more to it as the garage will check practically everything and give you a detailed list of what needs to be done, some urgent, some before the next MOT etc, cost £200.
I shopped around and found that even Merc dealers sometimes charged different rates, ranging from £400 to £500. Independents ranged from £200 to £320.
Understand that Mercedes stipulate the length of time that a job should take, so the differentiator will be the respective hourly rates of the dealer you choose. Merc also give you 12 months RAC cover as part of their package.
I would never use Mercedes to service car. They’re just too expensive and because of the vast variation of models that each dealership services, they don’t have any particular expertise on any given model, they’re all guided by the Star system.
Either way it’s your car so do what is best for you.
