Mercedes-Benz Extended Warranty is ridiculously expensive
Discussion
I love the AMG's and am considering a used C63.
That is until I just found out the cost of the extended warranty, which is an absolutely ridiculous £5700 for two years.
An equivalent BMW extended warranty on an M6 is around £1400 per year.
How on earth can someone justify over £10,000 in warranty costs alone for a 4 year ownership? And how is it that BMW can offer the same for significantly less?
IMO, on whole, that means it will contribute to lower Mercedes used value because of reduced confidence. That reflects badly upon the brand.
I know the C63 is meant to be quite reliable, but no way I'm taking a risk on such a complex powertrain.

I think there is your answer. Perhaps the difference between an M6 and a C63 is that the latter is more cmplex, fragile and more expensive to mend?I know the C63 is meant to be quite reliable, but no way I'm taking a risk on such a complex powertrain.
That is silly silly pricing and not far off Mclaren warranty costs! Used to drive people to new PCP perhaps so they feel like they're saving money?
My C63 has had one sensor go awry in 48k miles / 6 years and anecdotally the forums aren't exactly festooned with horror stories about the engine / gearboxes on these cars.

Just replaced mine on a 2015 C63 saloon with c17k miles. The 2 yr extended warranty came to an end and I opted for monthly instalments. Its around 160 per month. I think a bit cheaper at around 1600 pa but the £3k figure is only if you let the warranty lapse then want to take a new one out.
So best ensure you keep rolling it every year.
