Is there a cheapo deal on eBay for AMG badges? Came back from France today via the tunnel in my C63 and, when on the M20, I spotted 4 fake AMGs. One of them was a C series coupe with a 4 exhaust mod but the flat bonnet gave the game away. Another was a "CLS AMG" which had the cheapo LED driving lights stripe (and was driving like an @rse), the 3rd was a "C22 AMG CDi Elegance"...the 4th was an E class taxi.
Why? I note someone has posted on this forum about a tune/remap and has included pics of yet another fake AMG...wtf? I always wanted a Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth back in the day, but I never felt the need to re-badge my Sierra Sapphire 2.0i Ghia as an RS Cosworth.

What's so wrong with people mis-badging or otherwise modifying a car to make it appear a better model than it actually is?
No different to all the debt junkies and ten bob millionaires driving around in cars they can't actually afford to buy either.
I just asked why? Not interested in the politics of envy bollix. No different to all the debt junkies and ten bob millionaires driving around in cars they can't actually afford to buy either.
I saw a couple on the A1 and M25 today... An E320 AMG and an E220cdi AMG.
I have no idea, tbh. I quite like the fact that 500s are rarer than AMGs (obviously not as fast), but a local CL500 owner decided that his was a CL63 born into the wrong body and bought every badge and bit of bodykit (but not the brakes, hence obvious to anyone who'd seen an AMG).
Of course he then had to rag it around everywhere to "prove" it was an AMG...
ETA I'd say leaving a 320 badge on with the AMG one is less of a crime than putting an E55 or E63 badge on, as it could be that the owner is just a fan of the marque. I wouldn't though.

Don't all the AMG line cars have AMG badges all over them?
Mine has them on the wheels and floor mats, that's it! Not as bad as BMW M-Sport trim mind, M badges bloody everywhere on those tractors.OP - what about fitting a C63 grille? I have one on my C350 estate instead of the slatted one it came with... no AMG badge though!

My CLS is a lowly AMG line - because Im poor and have failed in life - and it has AMG stamped on the alloys which is as subtle as you can be, and has AMG branded carpet mats, FWIW are ste and wear through in no time. No other AMG branding that I can think of.
I got less “hassle” from thrusting tdi-types when I removed the nomenclature from my C36.
It probably passed for a bodykitted C180.
It would make less difference if the badges from the C63 were removed as it’s harder to disguise.
The fakers don’t bother me too much these days. Mercedes (and BMW Audi) are partly to blame by cashing in on the halo models to boost the bread-and-butter models.
Back in the day, I needed to supply the chassis number of the M535i to buy a replacement badge from BMW, such was the importance placed on the brand at the time.

Lots & lots of lovely AMG badges on Ebay & Amazon.
AMG letters for the boot lid & grille in chrome effect or black.
Little silver AMG on a plastic moulding for the grille as per Mercedes supercar thingys.
Best of all the L shaped BLACK SERIES shaped badge that fits around the AMG badge itself.
Then there are AMG Limited Edition plaques for the console.
AMG on little plinths for say the door threshold plates.
AMG alloy centre caps & of course AMG valve caps.
Best of all a big chunky black anorak with AMG in BIG BIG letters with matching cap of course..
The list is endless & very wonderful.

I was out and about yesterday on the M25 and I passed an SLK*** AMGCDI, couldn't make out the numbers but noted that the CDI badge had been moved closer to the end of the boot lid in order to accommodate the AMG letters?
There is a throbber around here in a white bog standard oil burner W205 C Class who has removed all badges and stuck an AMG badge on the right of the boot (like the W204 C63)...felt like leaving a note on his window to explain that the AMG badges of today are now on the left.
My next door neighbour's daughter has bought a shooting brake thing...CLA180 or something like that? Her "boyf" has......yep....you guessed it...stuck an AMG badge on the boot...
Very.Sad
