Hi all

my 2015 C205 C Class Coupe has developed a noisy rear wheel bearing.

I've had my car into the main dealer for it's B Service and MOT and they've now quoted me
580 pounds to have the bearing replaced.

Does anyone know if you need any specialist tools to do this ? such that an
ordinary garage can do this instead.

I'm tempted to take this to a garage that I've used for 25 years prior to me getting
the Merc 2 years ago.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wheel bearings should be standard fare for any reputable garage. Find the cost of the item yourself and then find out how much said garage charges per hour. Suspect it will be cheaper than a Merc quote, just may not be by that much?

So have you done mega mileage or driving over rough terrain regularly?

Now sorted.

My local garage (that I've used for last 25 years) did the job for £210.

Car running lovely now.
