I have a W213 E-class (AMG E63S). MY68, 7k miles. Flawless so far, this is the first issue I've had.

Yesterday evening, sat in car, foot on brake, pressed start button - usual lights on the dash....but nothing.

No error messages on the screen. Literally nothing at all.

Each time I could hear some noises...presumably starter motor etc...but it wasn't firing.

Tried for about 20mins on and off. Including, locking the car and going away to do a sad face for a while (and search for the recovery phone number).

Eventually it started normal - weirdly when I attempted it with the drivers door open.

I did wonder if it was starter battery related. I mostly only do short journeys (…) and the Merc App generally says 'starter battery partially charged'.
But not getting any warning/error messages just seemed odd. Maybe 'the computer' got it's knickers in a twist?

Took it for a 45min blast (of the 'Italian tune up' variety), filled up with V-power and no issues since.

Anyone any ideas of what might have caused this?

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Mine (2017) has done it a couple of times and I too have put it down to battery issues, in that it always seems to do it when it's been stood a while and I get the same notice on the ME app. Mine usually then goes to "Critical" and it starts sending me messages.

I now keep it on a trickle charger when it's not being used (often at the moment) and so far it's been fine.

Aah good to know it's not just me smile.

Probably is battery-related. i'll see how it goes and maybe drive it a bit more to keep it topped up!

It happened to me last night the car didn't start .new battery serviced no problems whatsoever suddenly not working no ignition no warning lights called the AA and they didn't know why. He suggested the starter motor. Connected his tablet no faults. He called for a recovery car. Suddenly I tried again after 45 min of trying and the car started.
This morning car started no problems whatsoever.
It happend to my cousin 2 months ago . He got Mercedes GL 3.0 2021 with 5000 miles only on the clock. Same problem and started after one hour and didn't happen again since.
Any ideas?
