Differences between 320cdi and newer 350cdi engines

Morning all.

Just looking at a general runaround to cover some mileage this year, long and short journeys, about 12k and thinking of a CLS or S Class but leaning towards CLS from 2011 onwards.

What are peoples views on the two engines, refinement, torque, reliability and economy. Are there noticeable differences or for a years motoring are they both much of a likeness?

I'm pretty sure the 320CDi and the 350CDi both use the same engine (ie. the OM642).
