Hi chaps

Right, I've decided to throw some more cash at the Bornite E320 and get it into a fit state for (slightly) regular use.

The interior heating and cooling fan has completely packed up, not even a whisper. This was proceeded by a period of providing a pathetic dribble of air, then a short period of making faint twittering/squeaking noises. I should have realised that was the tell-tale signs of it's imminent total demise. (As should the 'Merc expert' I sent it to for diagnosis and sorting, but ho, hum.)

So, it needs sorted - but I'm completely bewildered by the number of different options for the blower motor. I've spent a couple of hours searching parts sellers sites and the number of combinations is ridiculous.

RHD Vs LHD
air con V non-air con
cabin air filter V no cabin air filter
climate control V no climate control

So fair I have found just about every combination of all of the above variations - EXCEPT the 1 I want, which is:

RH drive
with air con
with climate control
with cabin filter (which I assume is the long, thin pair of filters that sit under the wiper housing in the engine bay?

I have found 1 which claims to be for a car with cabin filter and air-con, but no mention of climate control - does this really make a difference to the motor I need? The part no. quoted in the description is A124 820 1308. Could this be correct?

I am at my wits end and throwing myself upon the benevolence of the smoker-barge collective beard.

Also - if the motor has ground to a halt and seized, can I assume I've knackered the blower resistor too?

Thanks all!

If I'm remembering correctly, this is the one in mine.

And here's how to get at it

Interesting. In my search I did come across Hella 8EW 009 159-111 i.e V close to this 8EW 009 159-101

I wonder what the difference is.

I assume this worked for you OK? What was the spec of your W124?

An alternative Merc part no. I've seen used in a listing for the Hella 8EW 009 159-111 is 000 830 7908 and looking at descriptions of the one you posted i.e. 159-101 also lists MB part no 00 830 7908.

So, looks like we're onto something.

Assuming these were factory fitted options, might it be worth giving your VIN number to your local Mercedes main dealer parts dept and asking them for a part number?

I don’t usually have anything to do with the main dealer, but mine was very easy to deal with when I needed a new ignition key. Just a thought.

I have an E36 AMG.
The blower is fine now.
Best bet to get part no. from MB and a price.
The SL shop carries W124 spares too.
