Replacement trim
Discussion
I'm after a replacement trim for my E class W212, it's the flap pictured that is raised to fit the roof bars, although the design of this flap is still current I believe is a fundamental design flaw as it's so easy to snap off when fitting and removing the roof bar.
Oh hang on this is MB so maybe a cash generating exercise!!!!
MB have stated that I need to buy the whole trim and have quoted
Water trim part £130
Painting £120 ish
Fitting £100 ish
The dealer said I'd have to order the part and book the car in, they could then give the accurate price as they are unsure of painting or fitting
The plastic hinge is still in place so all I need is the flap part, or a much cheaper alternative to the above.
Having spoken to 3 different MB dealers I am a firm believer that the after sales is totally consistent and ste!!!!!!!

That does seem to be the price for it I'm afraid. The little cover comes as part of the overall unit.
eBay doesn't seem to be throwing up anything at the moment (I think the part number is A 212 690 29 82).
Maybe call around some breakers and see if there's anything there... then get a can of spray made up and do it yourself.

Thought I'd update this old thread
I managed to find a trim off ebay for £30 delivered, then a local bodyshop lady was able to remove the flap section, I needed 2 as one had completely failed on one side and one was still attached on one hinge on the other side.
She then painted the pair, removed the 2 old ones and fitted the 2 new ones.
Total cost from her £30.
So a great saving on MB price as my original price was for one trim, it would have been double for both sides.
As far as I am concerned it is a design fault still being used on new cars
