Bought the wife a c43 cab (demo car) from Mercedes
To say the worst buying experience wouldn’t be enough , but having had it back the spec that was listed isn’t actually on the car , it stated wireless car charging smart phone , and apple car play , both I have now found out just over 4 weeks from purchase isn’t possibly , this would have been down to the salesman never returning a call ,

I wont get into the rear bumper scuffed bonnet scratched and the bullet dent in the rear quarter , as despite the constant can i see the car , he wouldn’t until payment was done in full, and had signed the relevant paper work , only then to be stood outside the handover bay and they pulled it around it the rain.

Am asking as I have passed the 28days do I’m have little to stand on in terms of arguing with them , or do I simple go viral ie go direct to mb uk etc as th eoriginal salesman couldn’t give a fk hence no rerun of any calls or emails

(Edit. No name & shame)

Why did you accept the car in that condition?

Why on earth did you proceed with the purchase when the experience was so bad

Yes why did you buy the car if you couldn’t see it? It’s hardly rare.

Just read that back to yourself.

They refused to let you see the car until you had paid and yet you still paid yikes

I wouldn't have the nerve to have posted up this complaint.
Always take your brain with you when buying a car. It helps.

I traveled a good distance to buy this car as I’m more near Newcastle, last 2-3 mb we have bought have all be as expected with zero issues , was suppose to be a quick handover as I needed to be back and it’s a 2-3 hour journey hence the quick turnaround, it was really only when it was going in for ceramic coating that the marks came to light ,

What does distance from home have to do with it?

Did you not get a bit suspicious as to why they wouldn't even let you see the car before you handed over.... what £40k or so, and made you sign all the paperwork first.

Mind you paying cash doesn't put you in a very good bargaining position nowadays but even so.

As somebody has already said a fool and his money.

It just goes to show that having money does not equate to intelligence.

It's a few years since I got mine, from MB Direct in Birmingham, which I don't think exists any more - they made it very clear they wanted to deliver the car, but I went to see it and collect. I had a company lease car and arranged for that to be collected at the same time - the salesguy knew that, so I was stuck with having to take the car.

The issue I had is they were supposed to be touching up stone chips and they kept bringing the car round having done a couple of them and left the rest. In the end they left the car in the road outside! The invoice also included Stargard at £299 and I saw that as an opportunity to save £299 so wanted them to take it out - they refused and said I couldn't have the car without it.

They were also VERY pissed off that I wouldn't take their finance - they got down to the rates I was getting on savings in the end and the manager flounced off in a huff when I still said no.

If we cut all the 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' comments it boils down to this: if you're not happy then contact MB UK, contact your dealer, be professional, state facts and ask for support. It's then up to them to decide if it warrants extra support or is left as is. I suppose the question for them will be 'did the damage occur after the car had been driven off the forecourt?' and therefore it not being their issue to fix. So you will no doubt have to show some sort of evidence that that is not the case.

Good luck, but it seems like a long shot.
