As per the title. I found another thread on a different site which hinted towards the same problem.

Only ever when stationary or driving at very low speeds, say under 5mph, The noise comes from directly under the front seat area. Not very often, either.

It is almost like dragging tin cans behind a wedding car.

First thought would be CATS, but it's had both secondaries removed (They're going back on soon).

I need it up on a ramp, but could it possibly be the primaries?

With the secondaries, about how long of a job is it to do? I already have them and a friend is a mechanic so I'd assume/hope that financially, it won't really be much?

A pure guess, but possibly a loose heat shield?

The car can disintergrate internally.

The heat shields around it can too.

I had similar though and it just needed new screw/bolts on the heat shields immediately around the cat. Sorted for the price of a washer(s).

Seriously hoping that is a funny typo on your first line ha.

I'm getting it up on a ramp in the next few weeks to put the cats back on, qo should see if theres anything loose then.

Cheers.

Rusted-through exhaust hanger? I had one on my E500, wasn't obvious apart from the noise, got it on the ramps and it was quite obvious.

Check under the plastic trays that run either side of the exhaust tunnel. There is often stones and debris trapped in there that makes a hell of a racket.

Is there any way of knowing if the car is an AMG upgrade or not?

The grille, bonnet, bumpers are definitely not the base spec, and AMG does show up on the nav screen on startup.

I ask, mainly because I feel she sits a bit low? I will get a better pic tomorrow.

Recently had the air compressor replaced and I know it is half up on the kerb, half not, but still..?

Picture attached.

Normally, I'd feel it isn't a bad stance but being an airmatic car, it just feels low.

No warnings telling me as such though..

It won’t be an AMG style - the concept didn’t exist in 2005. If it’s a 5 litre cls500 there were no AMG options available when new - unless dealer fit - bumpers can be changed easily enough. From the pic the wheels look like C63 or CLS63 wheels, lowering can be done with springs or on STAR, and there’s YouTube vids on how to enable the AMG startup screen. Nice classy colour smile

Cheers, Andy. Just looked again and the front is the normal but with a splitter. I guess being a rare color, it may have had a few deale fit options as well.
