Hi There.

My AMG warranty runs out at the end of this year. C63 AMG 2013.

So, I'm interested in peoples thoughts on purchasing the Mercedes AMG warranty from the dealer & carrying on with Mercedes. Or, can some one recommend an after market warranty please.

If people have gone else where for their warranty, who is it with and why.

Thanks for any replies peps.

Regards.

I’ve bought warranty through MotorEasy for the past 2 years since my AMG warranty expired but can’t really comment on it as I’ve not needed to use it thankfully.

As my car had full MB service history I didn’t need to take it for inspection, they also let me split the payments up.

Sorry, not sure how helpful this is - would be interested to hear others’ experiences and whether anyone else has MotorEasy.

Thanks for the reply.
I had a quote from them, about £800 ish a year.
What they cover seems quite comprehensive I thought.
Hopefully get some more feed back in time.

Thanks.

i had a warranty direct policy on my SLK55.

i'm not sure they are worth much. i tried to make a claim once as i was stranded due to a flat battery. i managed to get it going again and got it to my indy but they were awful to deal with. I know batteries and consumables aren't covered on some policies but at the time it might have been the crank sensor we didn't know as the indy hadn't diagnosed fully.
Basically i rang WD and asked for some help/advice, they were not very compassionate or helpful, and surmised the situation by saying the car got to the garage under its own steam so no claim.

You literally had to be broken down and DO NOT RECOVER the car yourself, in order for any claim to start. I thought i was doing the situation a favour and myself by trying to get to my indy myself.

Little things like this are the big things that pi$$ me off now when thinking about warranties.
Just do yer homework.
I think warranties are good if you are going along then boom, engine or g'box; big failure etc.
For niggles and stuff you'd want covered, scenarios etc, probably less comprehensive than you'd want.

I certainly paid for a warranty in the hope it was like a helpline and support when i needed it.
Nah. You're very much on your own if it's a niggle.
Don't be fooled into believing you have 'peace of mind' total back up. This is where i think manufacturers warranties are worth some clout as you can take the vehicle to the dealer and they are more obliged at least under the brand umbrella to help or assist.

Obviously just my opinion but hope others reply with more positive experiences to help your decision.
My indy said they (all companies not just WD) can be difficult to deal with when the customer has a genuine claim and try all sort to wriggle out of paying. Very much down the sense and compassion of the assessor they assign to the case.

I have not had a warranty on the car for 3 years and that's a judgement i'm happy with.

Adam.

Carry on with the mercedes warranty.

3rd party warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. They will find any excuse to get out of paying large claims (which is the sole purpose of needing one in the first place!)

Normally more exspensive, but you get what you pay for with manufacturer warranties.

I've had my W204 C63 for around 6.5 years now and that's with 5 years out of manufacturers warranty. I never extended the warranty once it had expired as I was advised by the service manager that I'd be better off taking out a service plan rather than extending the warranty as that model is pretty bomb proof. That said it has broken down once due to a Cam position sensor (£600 to diagnose and fix) but in every other respect the car has been faultless. As I had a service agreement the car was recovered for free and taken to my local dealership. If the vehicle is serviced by MB you are entitled to Mondial assistance for one year. The service plan was £60/month and now just £43/month which covers the expensive transmission fluid change so I've saved a few bob to put towards future repairs.

That and they'll do everything in their power to avoid paying out...just look at what happened to the M5 and a certain warranty company (perhaps one that you can speak to directly) doing all they could to avoid paying out.
