Hi to whoever's reading this...… Please Help

I own a 2012 C350. Currently when I go out the temperature gauge takes ages to rise (sometimes 15/20 miles) and only reaches approx. 60 degrees (it always runs at approx. 80 deg.) The car has on occasion risen to 40deg then, whilst still driving, drops off instantly and I can hear the fan cut in. If I pull over, switch off and restart the car it raises back to 40 deg. straight away. All water pipes are hot and the temperature works fine inside the car.

Can anyone advise me please....

Many thanks.
Pete

Not an expert, but sounds like a thermostat issue.

Had a similar issue on my 2012 C350 - Turned out was a faulty sensor on the thermostat.

Hi

Were you able to purchase the sensor by itself or the complete thermostat.

Thanks
Pete
