Hi all;
I would appreciate any insight into a problem I have with my 2008 c320 cdi sport. When just started and at a standstill, I am able to select the comfort mode. The car always sets off in comfort mode but within a 100 yards or so will self change to sport mode. Once in sport mode, I am unable to change back to comfort mode, pressing the dash button has no effect. I know I have bought the sport but, I would like to be able to choose the mode sometimes and surely this is not the default mode on this model?

Otherwise, very happy with the car, its just this small detail that niggles.

Nobody??
Has no one else had this issue (that's if it is an issue)? If anyone else has a c320 cdi sport, could they tell me if their car does this?

I had one, and it switched modes no problem.

I had several Mercedes with the same transmission - none had that particular fault but other shifting problems

Did you maybe spill water (the switch isn't a million miles from the cupholder) and maybe it's damaged a contact. I doubt it's super serious and probably just one to live with.

SOLVED.
The issue I had with the car self changing in to sport mode was due to the little plastic rod for the level sensor having broken.
You cannot buy this part separately, you need to buy the complete level sensor at something like £150. I looked on e-bay and someone was selling the link rods to do this repair for £30. A bit expensive for what it is but cheaper than the alternative.
Now fitted and the problem is solved.

Thanks for coming back, but what's it checking the level of - the car itself?

Checks the ride height for the adaptive suspension. If there is an issue with the sensor then the car defaults to sport mode, lowers and stiffens the suspension and the gearbox holds on to gears longer. This then has an affect on ride comfort and economy.

Wow - maybe that's a known thing, but not something you'd randomly think of!
