Just picked up an S350 Bluetec L. Nicely optioned with Distronic, pano roof and more. Would be curious to work out the list price when new for comedy value but Google hasn’t delivered up to this point. Any ideas as to where to look?

I had the W221 brochure & price list from June 2012 already, and then after finally getting our S500L earlier this year did the same - happy to help out.

S350 BlueTEC L - £64,595 (RRP incl. VAT)
Driving Assistance Package (Active Blind Spot Assist, Distronic Plus, Active Lane-Keeping Assist) - £2,065
Electric panoramic glass sunroof - £855

If you want to list what other options it's got, I can post the costs alongside - hth.
Alternatively, eBay has old brochures & price lists for sale.

Btw, if your Distronic mysteriously switches itself off for no obvious reason, it may just be that you're within 5-6 miles radius or so of a radio telescope eg. near Cambridge, Jodrell Bank etc. etc. for it to shut itself down (via the gps) to avoid creating any interference, or it may be receiving radar interference from civilian/military aircraft radar installations at an airport/airbase etc. etc.

Very puzzling when it happens to you at first, but there's some info about it buried in the owners manuals.
What's annoying is it appears that there's no ordinary Speedtronic cruise control available in its place whenever the Distronic radar switches itself off - there's just no cruise control available at all, until you're far enough away from the site in question for the radar to fire itself back up again. Hth.

You Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! It hadn’t occurred to me to search the ‘Bay but I have just found a June 2012 price list / brochure.

I’m loving the Distronic so far (wouldn’t have bought one without it). The car came with KeylessGo but there was no starter button which puzzled me at first so I got one for £15 on the ‘Bay and plugged it straight in.

I bought privately but my local dealer gave me a MercedesMe OBD adapter so I am now connected.

Just need to find a way to connect my iPhone and think that a simple Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter is the way forward.

Car is great so far but rear heated screen takes a while to clear and i’m missing the front heated screen (and steering wheel) on the soon to go Discovery.

Cheers

Got my price list...

S 350 BlueTEC L £65'410
Driving Assistance Package £2'065 Distronic Plus/Active Blind Spot Assist/Active Lane-Keeping Assist
Harmon Kardon Front Seat Entertainment Package £1'480 incl. DAB, headphones & remote
Keyless-Go Package £1'230 The engine Start/Stop button was missing but only £15 on eBay
Electric panoramic glass sunroof £855
Front Seat Memory Package £600
Closing aid for doors £470
Reversing Camera £395
Ambient lighting £290
Trim - Black Ash Wood £290

MSRP £72'795

The first owner will have presumably seen a discount (Jan-13 was getting close to the end of production) but thanks to depreciation, the gift that keeps on giving, you can now pick up 5 of these for the price a new one.

Some curiosities from the options list...

- Heated steering wheel - one of the cheaper options at £215. Odd that so few seem to have them
- The single sunroof on the SWB was a more expensive option at £970 than the (surprisingly cheap, surprisingly rare) £855 pano roof on the L
- TV tuner was £855 - crazy price!
- a rear seat memory package (i.e. electric rear seats) was available in the SWB for £1,660 but this must be uber-rare as I don't think I've ever seen a RHD W221 SWB with these

Nice one.
Agreed, the heated steering wheel should be more popular - despite ours having the wood & leather wheel option, it's not heated, and the wood part is indeed a bit cold first thing.
I'm guessing the pano rear roof for the L was cheaper than the elec front roof (std on L) for the SWB, because the additional fixed rear pano section on the L doesn't open.
TV tuner for £855, when a Freeview TV STB is £20? Crazy indeed. Nice when waiting around for people though.
I guess if you didn't choose the £4000 option for long wheelbase & additional rear legroom + elec & heated rear seats + sunroof of the L, you probably wouldn't be planning on carrying rear passengers much nor wanting to pay £1660 just for the rear elec unheated rear seats alone?

Some other pricey options that stand out for me are:
Folding wooden rear work tables for £1,570, or £3,335 if in designo wood...
AMG Sports Pack at £6400 for some bodykit & interior trim bits with 20" wheels that'll spoil the ride...
Bang & Olufsen front + rear entertainment for £6,700 + £8,585 = £15,285, yet still doesn't include the £855 TV tuner... laugh
And no less than £15,200 for the designo Selection Package of paint, wood & leather trim bits, provided you've already spent at least £2,300 on other options to even be able to tick that box in the first place... laugh

P.S Would removing the Start/Stop button help prevent it from being started & driven away via relay theft?
