w204 rear wheels and wider tyres
Discussion
plus as the side wall profile is a percentage of the width this will change to, when I change my car I'm considering sticking with the 19 inch rims as they are now standard (with the 20's as the option which I prefer the look of) as the newer cars have slightly more side wall and a little more rubber between the rim and anything that could damage them

Im not sure the quaife is the best way to go. I've read and heard plated diffs, if expensive, are the way to go?!
Your choice. It's probably the most common third party diff fitted to C63s. Eurocharged and MSL have hundreds of happy owners, including me.I have a plated diff on another car. It's fine too if well matched to the handling characteristics of your car.

Thanks for your input. Its useful. What did msl charge you and are they adjustable, ie can you tighten it to lock sooner etc?
No problem, glad to help. You don' t need to tighten it as it's a torque biasing diff, it doesn't 'lock up'. The specific part for the C63 is engineered to work really efficiently out of the box. You can feel it's effect much sooner than most plated diffs. It really does transform the car!I got mine from Eurocharged Watford who are unfortunately gone now. MSL usually have a promotion going. Hit them up.
Above 5k it just keeps on going and seems relentless, no longer being restricted to ~63% throttle. Below that it's more the throttle mapping / exhaust blipping etc, that you can have changed.
I used the Torque app to check the max throttle position on my stock C63. Once you see how much you are missing out on, it's hard not to fiddle!
Even stock, it still hit 182mph on the GPS in Germany (really!) and was still pulling. The chap at Eurocharged said it was restricted to 300kph, like most of them. Now removed, but I've not been back to Germany.
But really, it's the diff that has made the most difference. I've not done the 2nd cat delete, but I've heard it's a great subtle mod.

Let me think.
Holding the left paddle pre-kicks the the car down to the lowest possible gear, if you really need it!
Don't be alarmed if it smokes after starting the car on an incline, or restarting after a short period. They all do that, sir.
If you always use the paddles when really hacking along, try it in S+ mode in auto. It's gear selection is uncanny and also takes gradient into account.
Also in S / S+ / M, the blip on the down change depends how hard you are driving / braking. Brake gently up to a roundabout and it won't blip the throttle. Brake harder and it sounds awesome!
I love the car. That lovely V8 burble is ever-present and makes every trip an event. Some of this has been lost with the new W205 sady.
One other tip, there's a DAB radio update that should be done FOC by a Merc dealer if you need it. The older firmware runs out of space after a certain number of stations and drops out. I've only had this happen around London, but the update fixes it.
Enjoy!

Amazing. Thanks for the tips. Yeah it's my fav car, absolutely love it. Would like to drive it b2b with the old evo I had though. The mercs. Definitely more lairy though, which suits me..
Mine seems to Smoke a bit after a hard drive from the front left... Garage said could be rocker cover and quoted me 3 hrs to sort plus parts, which doesn't seem too bad.

Cool!
One other thing, if you want more power as well as more volume, the next stage is to fit new exhaust mainifolds as the stock ones are quite restrictive. Have a look at the log design of the stock ones.
Fit long tube headers with a map, filters etc and you're up to 550bhp or so. It's supposed to be loud though!
