Hi all,

I'm looking at a new daily (practical home life and for business, so co2 is important) and I've been going around in circles, toying with various "SUV" type cars, such as XC60, new Vitara, etc etc.

A friend suggested I look at the C/E class hybrids. Certainly a lot of car for the money (2014/2015 models, facelift), 2.1 with an electric motor.

I've read both good and bad things - for me it seems to tick all the boxes.

Anyone own/owned one and can share some insight with me?

I should point out that I now live abroad and will be importing one from Germany, where they are quite numerous and not too expensive.

Thanks!

PFA

Coming at this a bit late but I have had a C300h saloon for about two and a half years now, AMG line version with 19 inch wheels, done 67,000 miles in it so far at 49.5 mpg average, my daily commute is 100 miles round trip, I love the car, been really pleased with it, no reliability problems, and good on car tax as it’s a company car, problem now is that I have to replace it after 3 years when the contract ends and the only thing I can switch to is a 5 series BMW hybrid, last time I had the car serviced my local dealer told me they can’t get enough of them for resale.

No, but I've driven a C350e before for two days over quite a few miles; here's my thoughts. I had an S205 C350e PHEV Estate. I was dailying a W124 250D at the time. So, what did I think?

-It's a nice place to be inside! Loads of toys and compared to the competition I do like the looks.
-Engine and motor combo work very well, especially in town.
-Gearbox for me could be less dimwitted in Economy and Comfort mode. Sport mode works better but of course this can come at the cost of MPG.
-Mine did around 39MPG through the depts of winter with driving on various modes.
-On electric only the motor managed 10 miles when I tried it. It costs roughly 80p to charge the motor to full when I tried to. It generally won't charge to full with driving unless it's plugged in; Thats on a C350e remember.
-Engine note could be alot nicer, even on a 4 pot petrol.
-Suspension, car and ride are comfortable.
-With the motor you can wheelspin these cars quite easily in cold conditions! It did catch me out!

Despite the above I really liked the car, and gave it some serious thought over buying one back in February. However, they do seem to have dropped quite a bit in price over that time.
