We got a new c-class coupe last year (17 plate) and a few (dealership caused) issues aside we're pleased with it.

A month or so ago the satnav starts playing up: "card not found", then its found then "card not found" again and so on and on.

We took it into a, different, local dealership who have advised us that the SD card number didn't match the car's vin which was the cause of the issue - advised that this was correctable for £500 (seriously WTF??!?!?!?), but did recommend that we speak with the supplying dealer to see what happened to the correct card. Upon speaking to the supplying dealer their response was "huh? There's no correlation between the SD card number and the vehicle vin. Don't know what your dealership is on about."

I guess what throws us is that the SatNav worked perfectly for the 1st year which I suspect it wouldn't do if it was 'wrong', but obviously not being a Merc specialist I don't know.

Has anyone else experienced this?

As an aside we took the car back for the recall notice issued by MB and were told a courtesy car would be £50, otherwise a 3 hour wait... in truth I'm getting to the stage where I'm seriously questioning whether or not we're going to try another manufacturer for the next car - which is a shame.

The alerts/warnings on mine (2016 GLA45 non-Command) suggest that the card IS tied to the vehicle after first use but that this is at least partially reset when you update the maps.

Do you have a MercedesMe account and the ability to update the card? If so, do an update and it should be kill or cure.

The SD cards are not linked to the VIN of the car.

Any SD card which is appropriate for the car will work initially, but as soon as you have installed it will not work in another car. This doesn't explain your issue though, as your nav was working and now does not (assume you havent changed the SD card?!) , which indicates a system issue / problem, which would need to be looked at by the dealer to explain why this has happened.

If the SD card has developed a fault, as you have already installed one, you can install an 'Update SD' card which are £99, not £495 (the price of the original SD card) which hopefully would sort it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks both - I must admit that since it's still under warranty I'd not be impressed with having to pay anything for this. Have to dig a little more at the weekend
