Hi All,

First time poster, long time reader. I have two questions that hopefully some posters could please help me with?

Question 1:
I have a 2 year Mercedes C Class Coupe lease which I’ve had one year and my car is due it’s first service (the A service). Now I give the car back next year however it will be due the more expensive B service next year. Is there anything I can do to avoid getting the B service done on the car? Defer the A service (this allowed?) or hand the car back a week or two early? Has anyone been in this situation?

Question 2:
When they collect your car, when do they check for damag? Do they sign off on it while it’s still on your drive? I bumped down the curb and scratched the underside of the sill. You’d need to be down on your hands and knees to see it and be looking for it as it’s right under the car. How in depth is the check?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Exactly, do it a couple weeks late and the B service will be due after they collect it. Bottom line is if it isnt due when they collect it its fine. If you find you do more mileage in year two which could advance the service have them collect it a couple of weeks early as the same rule applies.

If its underneath you may get away with it. Will depend on the inspector on the day whether they spot it or not. They will inspect it and have you sign as it is sitting there yes. impossible to say if you would get away with it but maybe get a written quote for repair yourself and when they ask you for more you can use it as a line of defence.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If it is 2 years old it should already have had an A service after 12 months so should now be due the B service wink

Mercedes checks are pretty comprehensive and they will almost certainly spot the damage and send you a nice bill to correct it.

It’s only one year old. So if I defer the A service by a few weeks does that mean I won’t need to do the B service?

On the damage, surely if they are signing off on the car in collection on my drive then they won’t go underneath the car and see the scratch to underside of the sill?

Sorry, misread the 2 year lease bit.

As long as the service isn't showing as overdue when it goes back you should be ok not to get the B service done.

You only really need to defer it by one day to be ok, so when it goes back there is one day to go before the service is required.

I have been in this situation 3 times.

With the A service just leave it - up to 30 days or 1000 miles past.
These days the cars (mine did, anyway) with 365 days service intervals on the counter.

If you've deferred the A service then you have a handy cushion at the end of the two years.
