Backorder parts - Mercedes
Discussion
Would anyone happen to have knowledge of how backorder of genuine mercedes parts works?
Requested a part - no UK or Germany stock, told by dealership that order needs to be placed and paid in full, and only after a few days will they know how long it will take (could take 6 days to 6 months??)
Is this usual practice, and has anyone had experience with this, e.g. how long has it taken your backorder to arrive?

I've had a propshaft for my S class on order since April, told it would turn up early August, then put back until early October.Requested a part - no UK or Germany stock, told by dealership that order needs to be placed and paid in full, and only after a few days will they know how long it will take (could take 6 days to 6 months??)

You can try phoning Mercedes customer service, as I did, to find out what the hold up is, they're nice enough to deal with, but you may as well ask your dealer for any updates, as they have access to the same information (as far as I know)
The part was ordered by my indy (Class Cars in Sandwich) they tell me they've waited a year for some bits to turn up! Mercedes are obliged to supply parts for cars up to 15 years old (again, as far as I know) but I guess just make a batch of whatever when they have to, rather than having every part on the shelf.
It's frustrating to say the least, but there's nothing we can do but wait, what bit(s) are you waiting for?
