Quick question, maybe the wrong forum.

I only do a short journey (6 mile journey 1 way) and the stop start on my car rarely functions, almost making it redundant, until I do a long trip. The 48v system attached to the 1.5 M264 engine uses regenerative braking which is probably beyond the normal stop start system so I guess aimed more at short commute recoveries.

Long story short with lots of small commutes is this going to end up non functioning as the car never recovers enough to maintain the system?

Only a test drive will truly answer that question.

I don't understand what the problem is... You use the brakes during this journey, yes?

With the stop start system it takes a week to run down through under recovery as the battery has to be at 70% charge or something to work the system. I assume this must be the same with most cars stop start systems?

Of course the brakes are used, but if the energy required is more than recovered like with the stop start system in my current car eventually it will stop using it to do the clever fill in bits etc.

I guess it was a stupid question, I didn't know if there was some sort of minimum recommended operating conditions, that basically ended up saying don't bother buy a plug in.
