My wife has a brand new (3 weeks old) Mercedes SLC 200
The engine management light came on so she booked it in with dealer she bought it from. Been told the injector seals need replacing ! Question is how long should this job take does anyone know as they have now had car 2 days and are saying it won't be done until at least tomorrow now !!
Not happy !

Quite an involved job stripping it apart to get to the injectors, then a day to wait for parts, then another day to reassemble... Doesn't sound unreasonable.

Thanks Krikkit,
Just frustrated because I would have thought a Mercedes main dealer would have known how long the job would take . Especially on a brand new car , and also surprised that seals need replacing at all having done under 1000 miles

If they've never needed to replace the injector seals, or it took a while to diagnose (possibly with help from MB technical) then it wouldn't surprise.

It is quite unusual, it could indicate a faulty parts batch or just bad luck I suppose.

Yeah I thought the same faulty batch or bad luck . Service manager said he had only seen same fault once before when he checked on Mercedes data base
It took them all of 30 mins on the star machine to diagnose

No expert but I can't see how they'd fail in that short of time. Assembly fault, injectors not torqued or installed correctly maybe? hope you're not paying.

My Uncle has just has the same issue, car is 3 months old they had it 2 days for him as well. He has been a Merc man for 40 yrs, he isn’t impressed, I dont want to tell him its not quite the same these days and if he ran the miles he ran pre-retirement he would probably never be away from the place.

Just had a call from Mercedes apologising for the amount of time and to say it’s all done . Going to bring car back to us with full tank of petrol . Not bad as it was below quarter when we dropped it in.
We haven’t paid a penny toward it as it’s all under warranty .
