Blimey, so took my Merc C Class C250d 4MATIC (W205 MY17.5) in for a visual check before Europe road trip only to be told wear on front tyres is significant and both around 2.5m (8100 miles on the clock) - should say it’s on 19” rims

I dont drive the car like i stole it by any stretch but never had to think about new tyres so quickly before (i know legal min is 1.6 over central 3/4) but given our road trip is 4000 miles would rather get done before we leave than when in a foreign country etc etc

Anyone experience of this cars tyre wear being so high? I know its a moot point debating with Mercedes on tyre wear because they will just say I’ve ragged it.

Which replacement tyres to go with? Seems to be limited choice on the run flat - either Goodyear Eagle F1, Pirelli P Zero or Conti SPort Contact 5, Falken Azenis(??). With them all ranging from around £230 a corner to £155 for the Falken...

Is this the same issue as with GLC where they scrub their front tyres due to an issue with the diff being messed up on RHD cars?

No, there’s no crabbing - I think that issue is limited to the GLCs only? (Happy to be corrected if I am wrong!)

It's not just the GL* Class I can assure you, as the owner of a W213 4Matic+ smile

As for the tyre wear on yours then yes, it does seem excessive and may be worth getting the alignment checked on a proper Hunter type machine.

Hankook are supposed to be a good tyre for these cars by the way, and have been used as OEM by Mercedes.
