As per title, I am looking to buy a Mercedes C207 E350 CDI Coupe, at about 12K, I like the panoramic roof versions and Harman Kardon, ideally a facelift model with 265bhp but not too fussed if its the older model as spec/condition are more important to me. Have any owners got any real life reviews on this car, not much available to google.

Thanks

I bought one twelve months ago from Mercedes in Stockport last year. It was a late 2012 model, 265bhp in Metallic White with the black panoramic sunroof. I owned the car just under twelve months. Performance of the car is really good, floor it and it didnt half shift. MPG was reasonable- mid to high 20's about town and 44mpg on the motorway. The car was quite comfortable and super quiet. However, I found the looks a tad dated in comparison to the newer stuff and the drive was pretty boring to be honest.

Iv replaced it with a 13 plate BMW 330d M Sport and for me the BMW is better in every way. I havent missed the Merc since selling it a few weeks ago and wouldnt buy another one.

Not a bad motor but for me Id consider other options...

Have a look on mbclub.co.uk, there was a thread about these somewhere .

I've had a 350Cdi 265 coupé. The 265s came out before the facelift, approx 2011 IIRC. I think they all had the straight DRLs, stop-start, updated steering wheel and the revised gearbox.

Mine was an SE with HK, pan roof, leather, intel headlights, mem sports seats etc.. I specifically ordered the SE but with most Sport extras as I wanted the slightly higher profile tyres and the lighter roof/pillar trim (grey as opposed to black on the Sport). All 350 coupés (SE and Sport) have sports suspension and steering. 265 versions had quite a few internal engine differences and changes to dpf regeneration etc.

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance but used it mainly on continental long-distance trips. Driven at Autoroute speed limits I was getting 50-odd mpg (usually super diesel). I have, and have driven, quite a lot of reasonably quick cars over the years but for what I used it for I never really thought 'this needs to be quicker'.

Like many auto diesels there's sometimes a very slight pause between putting your foot down and it actually getting a move on. It's slight, but there. Having said that I invariably left mine in Eco rather than Sport and the car wafts easily on a wave of torque at low revs, a bit like the old Bentley Turbos. Very different cars but both very torquey and with acceptable (and similar) performance. Slightly different mpg figures though.

It's not the same as the 5.5 Twin Turbo AMGs but it's pretty good for a diesel and on a long trip, you spend far less time in fuel stations. Once it's cruising it's also fairly quiet for a diesel, although you can tell it's a diesel (and not a V8 AMG) when it's cold. The V6 is much smoother, IMHO, than the 4-cylinder.

I found the seats comfortable and I could happily do, and often did, 700 miles in one day. Bodywise, it's quite compact which can be useful at times. The interior is not quite up to CLS standards but it's perfectly acceptable. Some, but not many, have Nappa leather. Black wood or aluminium trim makes the interior quite different to those with wood.

There can be a bit of roadnoise on some road surfaces but it's not really intrusive. Didn't use the full windows-down pillarless effect very often but it was a nice feature to have.

I tended to treat it as a 2+2 rather than a full 4-seater but try it for size.

Overall, not perfect (what is) but I liked mine and it did everything I wanted it to do with perfectly adequate performance and good fuel economy.

I bought a 2010 pre facelift just over a year ago for just over your budget.

I bought on spec & condition & I wanted a white one so choice was limited.

Mine is the 230bhp E350 Sport with Nappa, Harman Kardon, memory seats & Black/ aluminium trim. It was on 50k with FSH.

One thing worth seeking is the folding rear seats, the boot is quite generous given the shape of the car, but with the folding rears you can get a lot more kit in there making it more practical.

It is a 2+2, but will fit adults in for short journeys. Build quality is very good, sometimes the only noise is the squeak of the leather rubbing!!

Ultimately I love it. It’s very much a luxury cruiser with plenty of power when you need it. I get 33 mpg on my stop start commute & have seen 44 mpg on a fast motorway run. More than happy with that given the power.

The engine, for a diesel, is a peach & even sounds good when pushing on. The car is quite big and heavy so isn’t the best on the average country lane but as mentioned it’s not designed to be. I plan on driving to Italy next year where I’m sure it will shine.

So far just standard servicing is all it’s needed.

Go for it, find a good one & enjoy.

Thanks for your reviews guys, as a bit of reference I am coming from a daily E46 320cd, having previously owned a line up of old and new BMW's and a couple of Mercs. I have a '05 BMW E46 330Ci convertible for weekend/summer use.

A more relaxed drive is fine as my daily commute is only 40 miles total, mainly B roads, but long drives over to France/Belgium are a regular jaunt. I thought all of the coupes had folding rear seats? Hopefully reliability seems to be good going from limited google reviews.

Ideal spec is:

White/Grey
Flamenco interior
Harmon Kardon
Pano roof

I'm fairly sure all had folding rear seat backs, mine did.

I might have an old brochure around, if I find it I'll check.
