CLS55 (M113K) to C63 (M156)
Discussion
So, I've had my CLS 55 for nearly a year, I purchased it as I didn't want to by a C63 at the time, (prices still falling and the W205 now in the high 30's)
With that said, The CLS55 with the Kompressor is a brilliant car, and lots of fans say it's the best engine Mercedes (AMG) made.
I've always liked the C63 and they're now approaching the mid 20's to low 20's depending on mileage and age, I'll get a 2013 onwards coupe if I go for one, but I don't want to make the upgrade to then feel disappointed, I know the noise will *not* disappoint, however I'm not sure if I'll end up with buyers remorse.
I already know the CLS has much more in terms of toys (Airmatic, Dynamic seats, Distronic) most C63's are very highly spec'd but I know it won't be as comfortable as the CLS and to an extent I don't care either.
I will go take a C63 out for the weekend again, I love the presence of the car and the engine / exhaust character but I'm just not sure. It'll also need me to spend a fair chunk more, however my CLS is a 2005 plate and whilst it's compliant with ULEZ / T-Charge and in the lower tax band it's now getting on a little so I wonder if the C63 is the next best thing!
I know some that moved from M113K to M156 have been disappointed by the lack of torque but I think this is normal for a N/A car? Also doesn't the looks and character of the car make up for this?

Difficult to compare them I reckon. Luxury barge vs sports saloon. I was very close to getting a C63 but in the end I got a CLS55 last year. Love it.
Better low down pull compared to the ‘63, better looks, better kit, but a very old tech gearbox and despite the bulletproof m113k overall there’s more to go wrong with the abc brakes, electrical kit, air suspension etc.
Terrible economy, it’s getting on a bit at 13 years old, it only seats four, and it can’t handle as well as the lighter, newer C class.
But I think I’d miss it if I swapped to a C63.

Purchased my CLS55 last year and it’s got a 3 year warranty that’s actually quite good.
It’s paid out on one strut, compressor and alternator, so that’s the main things I would worry about.
The gearbox is lazy however and the car is a tank. (I knew all this when I purchased)
Now the question really comes down to, swap for a sports coupe (C63) forgo some torque, the supercharger and some comforts (airmatic, dynamic seats) and go for a more agile car?
Or keep with the M113K CLS55 for a few more years (it’s already pretty much bottomed out on deprecation) and maybe grab a C63 in a year or two. (They’re falling quick enough anyhow)
