My wife has a 2007 B200 Auto Petrol - The car covers less than 1,000 miles each year and is currently at 47k miles.

I drove it they other day on a dual carriageway - While heading up a hill I accelerated to around 70mph and noticed the clutch seemed to be slipping (more noise than pull). I'm not mechanically minded but guessing a B200 Auto must have some kind of Clutch? If so, can this be replaced as a separate component or is it a part within the gearbox itself, therefore requiring a whole new gearbox?

Any advice would be much appreciated

These have the CVT gearbox. What you need to do is read the fault codes from the TCM (Transmission control unit)
i bought from ebay an icarsoft mb-II obd2 code reader
Given that 47K isnt a lot of mileage
My aclass has just chewed its gearbox at 136K (after TCM repair(s) + gearbox repair = approx £3k)
A new one is about £4.7k
Once you get the codes then head over to ecutesting.com (Derby)
They will repair the TCM (but you will need to remove it -minus the valve chest)
Shout if you need anymore info since I have been through the pain.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply John, it's very much appreciated.

Up until 15 months ago (or 800 miles) the car was still under Mercedes Benz Approved Extended Warranty, during the warranty period I asked the Mercedes main dealer to investigate the fault They told me they couldn't replicate it (a bit annoying, as I was covered back then but since chose not to renew the warranty due to wife's low milage).

I've not seen any warning lights on the dash and would have hoped that the main dealer would have checked on their computer (but maybe not).

In the first instance I'll do as you suggest and see if any codes are shown.

Many thanks once again for taking the time to reply.
