I'm unsure about this so would like some advice please.
My car is a 15 reg W205 C300 Hybrid. It's on about 52,000 miles at the moment with full Mercedes service history.
Car's in pretty good shape and most probably I'll be keeping it for another year.
The warranty expires in 2 weeks and I've been sent a letter offering Tier 1 and 2 extended warranty. This basically works out to be about £560 for Tier 1 and about £520 for Tier 2 annually.
This has been quite an expensive month as I've just replaced 4 tyres plus insurance up for renewal (and MOT but that is not too bad) so I'm not really sure about the Mercedes warranty.
Reading the documents it seems to suggest I need to have my car serviced at a Mercedes dealership to not invalidate the warranty. My plans are to service the Merc at a local garage. Spoken to the owner as he has confirmed servicing at his place will not invalidate warranty, but I'm not sure if this is the case with extended warranty?
What are your thoughts? Is it worth taking out the extended warranty?
Anyway here actually taken one out can give any feedback?
Touch wood if my car has to go in for a fault will a courtesy car be made available?

I have the used car Mercedes warranty on mine which is equivalent to level 1. I have made a claim this year for replacement rear air suspension.
When it expires I intend to renew as it is easy to pick up repair bills over the cost of the warranty.
Not sure if Mercedes main dealer servicing is required as I have just signed up for their service deal, £35 per month which covers not only the normal service but also the gearbox fluid change which is due on mine, so it works out no more expensive than an indie,

Thanks for your reply. I didn't realise there is a service deal? I guess this only applies to new cars?

The policy document is online and it states that servicing must be done by an 'authorised MB passenger car repairer'. But struggling to find where the list of repairers might be.

I don't think there's an age limit at all now, although it's a little cheaper if taken out before the car is 12mths old.

I think they're largely gone now. When MB canned a lot of little independent dealers I guess in early 2000's, many of them remained as authorised repairers but they've gradually dwindled away. One I was aware of was Vikings In Canterbury but they were acquired by Lookers a couple of years ago and look like they're a fully fledged dealer again.

Ciceley Continental was a another one but closed I think - they still do Mercedes commercial vehicles elsewhere.

There's still a few in this list, but not sure how up to date it is: http://www.mercedes-retailers.co.uk/mercedes/deale...

Yes, I've read about the clause in the policy document too. Looking at the list in the link I'm guessing if I take out the extended warranty I'll have to service the car at a Mercedes dealership...

Applies to used/older cars as well.

For extended warranty and service deal it will cost me about £1k for one year. Not too sure if it’s worth the investment ...

This is where you add in other consumables and on-going depreciation and it starts to look not that far away from having a new one!

That's my thoughts too.

Off topic but found a fully loaded Volvo S90 all the toys nappa leather, massage seats, Bower & Wilkins, air suspension. Love it but shame it's out of my price range frown

It does add up, but it is £80 per month which can be quickly outweighed by the costs/depreciation on a new car.
