No history of Mercedes except having a 320cls for 4 months but I really fancy a used e63s estate . Getting a second dog so the 335d boot likely to be too small in a year .
From experience what's the likely price of an e63s in a year - I notice you can get one with 1000 miles for £80k now .

TBH that price is still more than I paid for my new, custom spec, E63S saloon if you take the VAT off.
Though, granted, I'm still waiting for the car to arrive some 7 months after ordering it.
So dealers are not really losing out selling what is likely to be a demo car at 80k; after the various discounts that one could have found, and the VAT - they can claim back the VAT if they sell on the car within 12 months anyway - are taken into account.
Given the rumoured supply problems (backlogs from November 2017, so lack of new cars available to order later in 2018) it's unlikely that the 80k figure will shift much in 6 months' time either (ie. stronger demand for lightly used examples). Having said that, if you can find one nearing the 12 month VAT expiry date (ie. purchased more than 12 months prior) you may be able to strike a deal, given that they'll be clobbered for around 15k of VAT if they don't shift it!

Similar situation for me, I got my 63s saloon last sept with 280 miles on it for 79k. Good spec car as it was the dealer demo. Very happy with it as I’m sure you will all be when you take delivery.
Very subtle car as you could mistake it for an e220 ( with your eyes half closed !) but by Christ does it get down the road well. I think it’s as fast as my 458 spider to 100 mph I really do.
Enjoy guys.

Mine gets delivered on the 24th and I did quite a lot of research on pricing...

You can easily get 11% off a new one so take that off straight away and then £10k a year depreciation is I think realistic which is painful but to balance that out the car is awesome!

I think you're being overly optimistic re: only £10k per year on depreciation.

For reference, when Mercedes quoted a 48 month PCP lease to me (12k miles per annum), the final balloon payment was £29k on an £85k vehicle (or £95k prior to discount).

Prepare yourself for some fairly savage depreciation. They will be circa 45k by end of next year.
