I've narrowed down the next family wagon to the E class estate, whilst I'd like the 350, the 220/250 will probably be more than sufficient for Mrs Aussieal to do the school run/commute and for occasional family trips within the UK.

Ideally looking at 14/15 plate cars for under £20k and am trying to get an idea of likely cost of an MB extended warranty whether I but from within the dealer network or outside of it.

Being new to MB, do they offer the monthly options in the same way that BMW and VW do? And what are the typical costs?

Cheers

I got a quote in December for my 2014 E220, I didnt take it up but Ill dig it out, from memory it was around £1k for the next year.

They asked my annual mileage so youre better getting a bespoke quote, mine was for 12k per annum tier 1 cover (most comprehensive, I didnt quote for anything else) .

I didnt ask about paying it up so cant comment on that, you mention other manufacturers offer it but how does that work I wonder if you need to claim on day 1 and havent paid them a penny?

As manufacturer warranty had run out they said there would be a 1 month waiting period before I could claim, but no inspection or anything like that requjred - though the car has FMBSH.

Thank you, very helpful.

Ideally, I'd find a car within the dealer network and get a year's warranty on it.

I bought mine last year with a 1 year warranty. At the time the dealer said an extra year would be £850 (I think it was about that) but he advised not to take it out then as Mercedes would be in touch near the end of the year and would likely offer a lower price.
Still waiting to see if this is true!

That would be the plan, figures getting up to £1k seem a bit steep.

I checked prices using my car (CLS 250 SB) with 40k miles and the quote was £650 pa for the level 1 cover, so should be in that ballpark depending on mileage?
