Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 W221 S320CDi. Recently I noticed the battery was getting weak as comand would shut down after 3 mins with no engine running. Today, I went to lock the car with the key fob and nothing locked so I thought I would check the ignition would still come on and nothing. An hour later I tried it again and the car started, I got home no problems.

Tried again at home and no battery it seemed, so got a new consumer battery as it was interior lights and comand that seemed to be the issue. Plugged it all in and now lots of power but dash says ''key not recognised by this vehicle'.

I don't have a spare and now my car is stranded (luckily at home). Is there a way to resync the key or do I need to do some kind of sequence?

The battery I replaced was the one behind the rear seats and not the starter battery.

Have to say this car has been an utter pain to own and has put me off MB.

Please help me out if you can.

Thanks,
Mike

Hmm, either google some more or ring your local Mercedes dealer and ask to speak to a technician. My go to with all the modern electrical probelsm that cars seem to have.

There will be a sequece, its just knowing what it is. On wife car a Fiat 500 you put the key in door lock and turn key to lock position and hold key there whilst pressing lock button quick on fob, remove key and repeat up to 3 times. Then check door unlocks with fob then start engine. I know its a different car, but I got the above sequence for a VW, so give it a try. Good Luckthumbup
