Noticed a few times now that there is a smell (only every now and then) as if diesel fumes are coming into the cabin. It usually happens when standing in a queue or when parking. The car has done 161k and is a 2003, I have had it since new and has full service history. May or may not be a clue but the engine temperature never seems to get very high on the temp gauge, always looks a bit low.

Any thoughts appreciated before I take it to the garage.

Many thanks

Phil

Leaking injector seals.

Lift the bonnet, remove the cover and listen to the injectors, can you here them spitting?

Search "270 cdi black death" on google.

New seals and stretch bolts needed, use a specialist, I had mine done for around £120 for all 5.

I had the same on my cls and as mentioned it was a seal on an injector. Didn't cost much at all to be replaced by an indy.
