Mine whines in 3rd and 4th on light throttle and has from new. Now on 60k miles and maybe slightly worse. Merc can't fix it. Otherwise a good box better than the 7g I had in previous car.

I've had a few C-classes on hire with the 9G... My only criticisms (and it's stretching the definition of the word) are:
1) In the narrower chassis of a C-class, it necessitates a tranny tunnel too wide for the car, which impacts on driver comfort.
2) When using it in manual mode there's too many gears... Although to be fair in most scenarios where you actually need manual mode you only really need the first 5 ratios.
Not really the sort of info the OP is after but hey... PH, right? smile
