C250 Sport Esate Tyres
Discussion
Hi,
My current rear tyres are Avon ZV7 (came with the car) and I find them pretty crap.
I'm thinking either Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or Conti Sport Contact 3 (same as the front) but I hear the Conti dont last very long. No
Can anyone recomend either of them or anything else that stops the rears spinning up adn sliding all over the place?
Cheers

I've run CSC3 on my previous cars - they're grippy but noisy and are now quite and old design.
The CSC5 which replaced it, was significantly quieter and softer. It was supreme in the wet compared to the CSC3. However, the CSC5 did not wear well on my (at the time) Saab 9-3 Aero which had 250hp going through the front wheels. IIRC about 9k from a set of fronts.
On a later V6 Aero (18 inch wheels) I had to Michelin Pilot Super Sports fitted - amazing grip in the dry and wet. They felt very surefooted and confidence levels were very high on these - the best tyres I've ever had. Lasted well too, about 18k for a set of fronts on the V6, with about 300hp.
On my SLK 320 (17 inch wheels) I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4 as the MPSS aren't available in 17 inch sizes. Great grip and 'feel' similar to the MPSS. I got 11k out of a set of rears. However, the SLK is non my daily so it tends to get driven 'enthusiastically' most of the time...
Overall, depends on what you want from a tyre and if that tyre is available in your size.
