SLK55 servicing
Discussion
Wouldn’t put me off in the slightest. The R171 has old school Merc tank like build quality and the M113 is pretty much a bullet proof engine, so no issues with missing a service for a year IMO.
There should be plenty of threads around the 55 on here including potential niggles such as the ubiquitous leaky valve cover gasket, which is easy to fix.
Make sure to join us on slkworld.com once you join the ranks of SLK owners. Good luck with the purchase!

Just managed to find the answer myself-should have had first service and oil/filter change by 1 year or 10000 miles, whichever came the sooner.
Would the delay put you off purchasing the car if everything else about it was ok?
Given that it was 2012 and it's not catastrophically blown up since I would say it's fine. If it's under 2 years and has been serviced at Mercedes since (min every 2 years) it will still have Mobilolife cover.Would the delay put you off purchasing the car if everything else about it was ok?
As mentioned earlier the M113 engine is pretty much bulletproof.
Given that even the newest are 7 years old and there were never that many sold anyway it's always a compromise when buying secondhand
There are bigger things to check like the brakes and whether the oil gaskets are leaking and whether it clunks down into first gear when cold and in sport mode. Oil gaskets are cheap. Car is pretty bullet proof on the whole though. It was a joy to own. Especially with an xpipe and remap.
