Thinking about getting another Estate to use as Dog Transport.

An old E Class Estate seems to fit the bill(approx'94-95).

Any models to avoid. What about high mileage. Most I have seen are well over 100K...I imagine not a problem if service history etc?

Cheers

Steve

Get the newer shape.. 95 on..

Got an E300td but have to say i'm not terribly impressed by the mpg. However i think the Aif flow sensor is knackered.

Look for knocking over bumps from the front suspension.

Otherwise the best place is:

wdb 210 e class 95 onwards is a good car too but the older model is far superior in build quality and has less toys to go wrong

Just on the off chance anyone wants a W124 saloon - I have one for sale over in the PH classified section.

I wouldn't bother with a diesel unless you intend doing a lot of miles. They are quite a lot more expensive to buy, and the petrol models don't seem so bad. My '97 E320 V6 auto does 27mpg, which isn't so bad for a big car, and it's acceptably quick. It's fully loaded, everything works, 100K miles with full MBSH, mint leather interior and it only cost £6K (it's a saloon, estates are £1K more expensive). I can't see what all the fuss is about regarding poor build quality of W210s, frankly.

A common problem it seems. I had mine sorted by the dealer for about £300 (lower ball joints, anti-roll bar bushes) and now the ride is quiet and the handling (on sports suspension) is pretty good.

I might be selling a 525i SE Beemer touring soon - an 94 car. Fits the bill just as well - ie great for smelly dog.

There's a nice low mileage E320 Estate in Malachite green currently being auctioned on eBay.

No reserve, one owner, 60k miles... sounds too good to be true?

it went for £4650 which i thought was a bit expensive considering the lack of stamped up service history and thus makes the low mileage questionable
