Can anyone please advise who actually makes and sells a really competent and well made X Pipe ?
2 well known names do not review well, and on one I certainly was not impressed by their telephone attitude.....
I don't know where you are but if you can get to St Albans even if it takes a day round trip then go to EMP and speak to Eldin.2 well known names do not review well, and on one I certainly was not impressed by their telephone attitude.....
I had two X pipes on mine including one from Torqueflow (who are well recommended) and was not happy with either set up. Went to EMP (from Manchester) and Eldin recommended removing the X-pipe and fabricating a new exhaust all the way from the headers to the rear silencers including his own X pipe spec. Car has been absolutely brilliant ever since and he positioned the rear pipes exactly where I wanted into the bargain as I had put an SL63 rear bumper on and the exhaust needed to sit slightly further back.
I take my car for servicing in Stockport and the guys there asked who made the exhaust as it was the best welding they had ever seen.
The price was not the cheapest, but certainly not expensive either and you can watch them as they work on your car.... I can't recommend them enough.
Just to say they are nothing to do with me... I am just a very satisfied customer.

Another vote for Infinity Exhausts, had an X pipe installed in the place of secondary cats. It has been faultless and was well priced and (I believe) came with an unlimited warranty.
I've been thinking about an X pipe but "well priced"? How much? and is the conversion easily returnable to standard?Don't buy the ones off ebay, they're ridiculously priced for what they are.
I've not used infinity but as above, heard lots of good things about them.
It might be worth calling up your local exhaust place, if they fabricate/make custom exhausts an X pipe shouldn't be to much trouble.

If they put flanges on the end of each bit of pipe you would be able to refit the secondary cats. If not, it would have to be cut and re-welded again.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
