I have Brabus 19" split rims on my SL55. When I bought the car (used) the main dealer promised to repair one of the rims - it was kerbed in a few places, but nothing major.

I was expecting a "good as new" refurbishment, but it looks like they've just ground down the outside half-inch of the rim, welded the dents and that's that. I.e. you can see a line - all the way around the wheel - where the "join" is, and the new alloy welding is clearly visible! Doesn't look like any lacquer has gone near it.

I will post a picture if that's not obvious. Should I expect more from a main dealer? I know they are split rims, but this looks like a cheap bodge-job to me...

Is the outside edge of the rim a 'High Sheen' finish ? ie, the edge is a shinier metal than the rest of the wheel ?

I've had this problem with AMG wheels on the SL55, where the wheel cannot be done on site, and went away to have a high sheen coating put back on over the repair.

Complain, complain, complain. If it was part of your deal when you bought the car, then they have broken that part of the bargin.

I would think that a Merc main dealer would refurb a wheel to an 'above average to high standard' finish. If not get them to get you a new wheel!
