I have a 2015 Merc C class with pano roof and somehow got it jammed frown

I've got it mostly closed however the left hand side is stuck opened in the tilt position. I suspect it's the right hand side mechanism is jammed.
Not sure what to do now how I did call AA out.

I'm trying to find some kind of manual override just so I can close the sun roof fully but can't seem to find anything.

Hopefully someone can offer some advice...

if one side has broken plastic or metal piece somewhere then the motor will be pulling more on the good side (a bit like a sticking brake caliper causes braking to pull on the good side) and it wont close in parallel ending up skee wiff. ive just had the same (not a Merc) but i found a broken piece of plastic stuck fast inside one of the runner mechs on the drivers side and it didnt look possible to fix the broken piece back in even using gorilla glue so....................half the interior had to came out to allow me to drop the headliner then a complete sunroof replacement unit was fitted.

open it fully and visually compare both sides to see if you can spot something missing or like mine a piece might be resting in their somewhere.its not easy to spot if something has come off even when you have one good side as a visual guide.

if you have the key to manually close it then fine just dont force it and of course if you get no joy then it needs to be kept under cover.

Thanks for the reply. It won't even open fully now, just keep making grinding noise... When it was fully opened I did a visual check and can't find anything stuck. I've also paid around £60 last service (2 months ago) to get the sunroof lubed/serviced so bit surprised this happened.
Worse case is I'll duck tape the edges so water won't get in, will this be ok? Can't think of any other solution.
There's a Merc dealership very close to work so thinking of dropping it there tomorrow but that's if they have a slot free.
Still waiting for the AA man to come to hopefully at least get the sunroof fully closed so I don't have to apply duck tape.
Shame there's no manual mode where the motors will disengage.

This is view from rear. From the front it's slightly opened at the left hand side too frown

AA guy that came had some sort of thick cling film wrap which really helped.

He gave me a tip to call MB Connect (?) which is the road side assistance which sent RAC out.

RAC guy couldn't fix it so he was on the phone with Merc which arranged for me to drive to Merc dealership tomorrow with a courtesy car provided.

Fingers crossed this will be covered under warranty... My car is registered March 15 and when it was serviced around March this year they've replaced Sat Nav screen under warranty however not too sure if it's still covered now frown

3 years unlimited mileage.

Roof should be covered no problem. Unless someone jammed something in it!

You say Merc lubed it last service, wonder what with!!

Yeah, I don't really see the problem.

You pay for a service, you have a problem, may as well use it.

Well he could have called me, but as I know fk all about that sort of thing I would have told him to phone the AA.

Should be covered under the warranty OP - I had something similar on a BMW but with the roof mechanism on a convertible when it wouldn't shut one side properly & they fixed it no bother. Took a couple of days to get the parts but warranty took care of itsmile

On a Sunday afternoon, I'd do the same too. Not really sure what you're getting at.

Fingers crossed it will be covered still by warranty. My car registered March 15 so technically it's over the 3 years but we shall see.

Last service was major service totalling almost £600. I've opted for the sunroof to be serviced as well and according to invoice it's visual inspection and re-applying lubricant.

Perhaps the sunroof wasn't meant to be fully opened at speeds over 30mph.

Are you from the future?

March 15 + 3 years = March 18. So another 8 months of warranty.

Or am I being stupid?

To be honest if it can wait I wouldn't have gone down this route but I'm quite concerned with the chance of water ingress damage, security risk and also the possibility of sun roof flying off on the motorway due to the way it's jammed. Can't be risking that when I do 80+miles/day...

I wouldn't worry it will be covered under warranty as you'd still within the 3 years.

Actually think you are right! Not sure why I've miscounted 2015 as a whole year, Mar 15 > Mar 16 > Mar 17 = 3 years...

Re-sync procedure here -

Close all your car’s doors.
Put the key to position II.
Don’t start the car.
Open the sunroof all the way. It may require that you press the sunroof open switch several times.
Once you reach the fully open position, continue to HOLD the sunroof switch in the OPEN position until hear a click. If you don’t hear the click make sure to hold the switch for up to 5 seconds.
Next, close the sunroof and again hold the switch for 5 seconds when you reach the closed position
Check if the problem has been fixed. If not, repeat steps 4 through 6.

Thanks. Found something similar in manual but in my case I think the mechanism on the driver side is properly jammed. Gears seem to be missing/grinding. Sun roof is in the "tilt position" with driver side fully shut and passenger side open.

This forum post best describe my issue but the sides are reversed.

Same thing happened to my 201 C220 BlueTEC Estate but I was out of warranty by 3 months. Mercedes declined a goodwill claim and quoted me £4700 to repair.

Ended up at an independant garage who replaced motor, rails and cables for £2000. It looked like the rails were at fault. My mechanic said the rails aren't even being manufactured by Mercedes anymore they are that bad.

If you've got a panoramic then be aware at some point it's going to break no matter how well you keep it maintained.

Anyone seen this issue? I’ve only had this a week, and the clip on the left track has gone...it’s a 2016 c class coupe. Dealer will fix (£1,100) but looks extreme..and now the CV has scuppered any chance of a repair for months...is there a pano roof expert and can you get parts, only looks like a 99p clip...
