I am finding it virtually impossible to insure my Mercedes with Brabus modifications. Out of the hundreds of insurance companies in UK only a handful will even quote and they are quoting 5 figure prices. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Use a specialist broker.

Try paceward on 01782 286311, if you need modified high value (200k+) or super car cover then it will be £££££ even from a specialist.

I have tried lots of specialist brokers, most come back with exactly the same offers as each other. What I can't understand is that you can insure a supercar costing several hundred thousand Pounds or more and with extreme performance for less than 1000 GBP but I get quoted over 12k just because it is "modified". Surely most cars like McLarens are "bespoke" specifications yet they can be insured for a factor of 10 less.

I had a modified Monaro.
Best for me varied, over the years I had Greenlight, Sky & Need2insure.
Others went with Admiral (especially multicar), Brentacre, Keith Michaels or Classicline,

I assume it is a case of the computer saying no rather than the application of rational thought by the insurer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try again but you will appreciate it is extremely frustrating to give every detail about your car and life history only to be told they can only insure a specific vehicle listed on the insurance database.

Mods are not considered in the same category as “ bespoke “ largely because as soon as it becomes “ modified from original factory condition “Insurers clearly get concerned - rightly or wrongly.
Going to specialist brokers is always a good idea but you will need still to answer questions and then yes it is frustrating when they then tell you computer says no due to values or whatever for whichever companies they represent.
5 figure quotes though seem ridiculous unless you are very young or have an adverse loss record / unclean licence.

Footman James only added £93 to the premium of my C216 CL600 when I notified them of a Kleemann remap & fitment of a Quaife ATB . The didn't even change the premium when I added the same modifications to my two C215 CL600 biturbos.
Worth a try.

OP, can you expand on the model and the mods?

I've had G63 and E63 with Brabus mods and only paid for the extra valuation, no risk premium.

I'd try a HNW broker who deals with a person at the underwriter e.g. Hiscox, Chubb or Zurich. I use Nowell and Richards to place my business.
