Just bought myself a '79 350SL for a bit of "old school" fun this summer. I want to upgrade the original wheels to something like this...

Does anyone know what size alloy wheel / tyres a W107 chassis can accommodate? Anyone tried the same? Thanks

I'd prefer the originals from the period. 18 inch AMGs just don't look right IMHO. IF your car came with the painted trims instead of alloys, consider the alloys from the period or at the very latest the flat 15/16 hole alloys from the 300/420/500 SLs of 1986 onwards.

Nope

Cheers for your view Daz, its not that I don't think the painted hubcaps on the car aren't nice insofar as originality is concerned - and I would certainly keep them. Just interested to know what is possible.

Take a look at the advert for the 81 380SLC and the 89 300SL for an example of the alloys I tried to describe in my earlier post.
