buying an ML and independant servicing
Discussion
Looking at buying an ML 7 seater and been advised to look at 2000 model (got £15k ish) or newer but not sure why? Also I will need it servicing in Warwickshire but don't know how to go about looking for a servicing specialist rather than suffer main dealer pricing?

Is there a concensus view on when to switch from MB dealer servicing to independents?? I have a 6 year old 230SLK which is due new brake pads and a B-service very soon. I hate to take her to the MB dealer as I always have problems and resent paying their extortionate prices.
Is now the time to switch to the independents?? The car id probably only worth about 14k and I intend to keep her for a few years yet so impact in immediate resale of not having FMBSH isn't an issue. Can anyone recommend a decent independent in the South Herts area?? I'm thinking of trying 'Prestige Performance' on the Hatfield Road - anyone any experience of these guys??

I've used Prestige Performance for work on my BMW. They are very competent, know their cars inside out and are an official Bosch centre with full diagnostic tools, but they are a bit pricey. Saying that they are cheaper than a Mercedes dealer and you do get a courtesy car if needed. They prefer to keep to more modern cars unlike my e28.
