Try Brabus. My ML 270 CDI has had the full Brabus conversion and I am thoroughly impressed with the result. Will Crebbin at Brabus is the man to talk to. You can email him through www.brabus.com

They offer a engine mangement chip called D6 raising power and torque c20%-25%. You will pay more compared with other companies (e.g. Superchips,DMS) but Brabus offer a 3 year warranty on the engine and "downstream" on transmission etc.

You will pay for the quality (of development) and exclusivity. Only ever seen one other Brabus merc on the road in the last 12 months.

Haven't tried them but have heard great things about them. Ray seems to be able to work his magic on any high-end vehicle (merc, BMW, Ferrari) and squeeze more horsepower from them through traditional (head cam etc) and also modern (re-chip) means. Plus he's a thoroughly nice chap to talk to and you can tell he's a petrolhead at heart. Well worth a visit.

my dad had a brabus G400CDI with the full works, called the D8S. It was great until after about a year when all the fuel injectors gave up within about 2 months of each other. Fuel pump had to be replaced too. Obviously it was a different engine to yours, but it wasn't actually a massive power hike in % terms (250 - 310). Luckily for him, when he was just considering selling it, my sister's boyfriend wrote it off on the M11. Now he's got a new one, but decided not to go with brabus. i think they have actually stopped selling the D8S anyway because the gearboxes were starting to blow up.

Moral of the story - be careful with aftermarket tuning!

Gary - If you want any more information on the BRABUS D6 kits, have a look at our website - www.brabusnw.co.uk

The performance/torque improvement is VERY impressive for not a lot of money PLUS the reassurance of the 3 Year BRABUS Warranty. The feedback from customers is brilliant as well!

I looked into this for mine. I'm sure the Brabus D6 solution is best but it is on the expensive side. DMS Automotive do a chip for about £800 that gets you to a claimed 240 BHP.

Brabus quote from Sep 2003 was;

Brabus said:

Dear Sir

Thank you for your enquiry into the Brabus range your price is as follows:

210-636-00 D6 performance kit £ 1525.54+vat

Fitting £ 110.00+vat

I decided against this at the time because I couldn't justify the cost of the Brabus kit and driveability is important to me so didn't want to risk the cheaper options.
