Now whilst I am as keen as any to not endorse PH being the mumsnet for us chaps, there are very few mumsnet style forums with quite so many C63 owners on there!

A small tch911 will be hopefully leaving the factory in March and at the moment we are expecting to keep our pre-facelift (2010) C63 Saloon. Alas I am not sure that Isofix is available in our other car!

We are both quite tall, Mrs 911 is 6ft so my concern I guess is that the little one is going to be seriously eating into front cabin space given how thick the AMG seats are?

Anyone got any hints and tips? And no, slimline carbon buckets are not the right answer biggrin

Hi,

Well I just bought a c63 wagon and we are expecting out first in June, so I hope they fit! I am just over 6 ft and with my seat setup there looks to be loads of room.

Also if it fits in the back if a mini:

Looks like the only bit that goes bigger than the cars seat base is e support arm and they have pushed it out here:

Edit: yeah, I think we will be fine based on this:

Any recommendations on front tyres by the way? Mine is about to need a new set!

Thanks for that, I think my concern came from seeing this picture.

It may just have to be that I have to do all of the driving driving

I personally run Michelin Pilotsports and am a huge fan of them thus far.

Although I don't have a C63, we do have a C350 estate and I remember it was a bit tight in space (and we are shorter than 6ft). The C63 seats are much larger so might be a problem. Maybe pop into Mothercare or Halfords and get them to trial it in the car?

We went for the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix and FamilyFix Base (IsoFix) and the system is simply brilliant. We now have the Pearl as the twins are nearly 3 which still connects to the base unit. Here is a pic of our current setup:-

Thanks both.

Blast I was looking at the reccaro seats as they were the only ones that looked in any way cool! That does look rather tight! Maxicosi it is; at least they work with all the buggies!

Was looking at the Michelins or goodyears - conti's at the moment seem fine but a set of rears of those are a bit steep!

I'd be sure that the Maxi Cosi rear facing infant carrier would be obstructed by the back of the passenger seat in that picture - it sits a long way forward and its leading edge is normally just at the level of the top of the passenger seat.

Yeah, I had a Recarro Young Profi in my C63 Saloon. Front passenger room was reduced but not uncomfortable for me (6ft) by any means. Didnt have it on the rear drivers side as the space would have been hampered. I could easily get a Recarro Young Sport seat on the drivers side though.

Yep they do sit quite a bit forward of the base. Here is a picture of them in our old MK5 Golf R32 for comparison:-

Thanks everyone, doesn't look impossible then.... :-)

Since there's only one of the little ones, can the seat be fitted in the centre, thus in between the two seats?

There won't be Isofix fittings in the middle.

Some people say putting kids in the middle is safest, but I always wonder (probably irrationally) about something coming through the front screen.

Newbie here but then would that mean you would have to strap the thing down using the seatbelt and this wouldn't therefore be as safe as ISOFIX? Thanks.

My little one is 4 weeks old and we went for the Maxi-Cosi Pebble, was ok to get the baby back from the hospital, but soon discovered that room is limited in our c63. Some of the recommendations are good, and I hope you find a suitable seat.

Have bitten the bullet and bought a Q5, I can't see us using the c63 as I used to, and the wife is terrified of it, so having two cars cannot be justified. The AMG will be gone soon.

There again the new model is out, I may be saying the opposite in a few weeks..

I'm not an expert on this (and it's in the process of going through some changes too) but usually you'd buy either isofix or non-isofix systems. So if it's isofix it needs the attachments to be present.

I'd be uncertain that a non-isofix could be used in the centre position as the seat-belt mountings are often different. But it may well be fine.

It's not that isofix is necessarily safer, but a high proportion of belted-in seats aren't fitted correctly and isofix removes that variable.

Tried our friends' maxicosi today minus the base admittedly, though he thought this would just made it a bit higher. Seems to fit ok behind the passenger side in a comfortable position. Was quite snug in the countryman too! Not sure which model this one is. Can't believe how big these infant seats are.

Congrats Mike, I remember you saying you were expecting at the C63 Owners' meet. thumbup

My Wife is now pregnant however I'm already equipped on the car front with my new E-class. There's plenty of room so maybe you could look for an E63... wink

Thank you Grant, and congrats on your good news. Having a change in circumstances, with the Mrs now being the primary driver, I can't justify having a second car, I struggled to put 10k in 2 yrs, and the last 1500 or so was a trip to Affalterbach. Space is limited with the c63 seats, and I winced when placing the isofix base in the leather seats, I can understand the justification for an estate.

Once the c63 goes, my bank balance will be much healthier, not forking out on the fuel etc, just in time to splurge on the next bit of exotica lol

Gents, back on the computer once more and really appreciate all the responses.

So MagicMike, am intrigued that a MaxiCosi Pebble did not fit in the C63, this is the one that my wife is keen to fit. The pictures above seemed to look okay, albeit without a seatbase.

Cripes, I can see this heading in the direction of some 4wd battletank!!!!
