Gerbil in my supercharger?

Festive greetings, one and all!

My car (clk230 K) seems to be intermittently making a very strange and annoying noise. It's a kind of high-pitched whistling souns as I accelerate, the faster I do, the higher the pitch. I think it might be the kompressor, but I'm not qualified to tell.


Any thoughts, before I take it to a main dealer for an 'investigation' (aka cash drain).
