Handling and Gearbox... Does anyone use Sport mode for either?

Seems to me that Sport mode is a bit of a halfway house and doesn't serve much of a purpose. If I am lazy, I'll leave the gearbox in C and all the traction on. If I'm going out for a good blast, I'll turn the traction off and put the gearbox in S+ or Manual. So my question is, why would anyone use S on the gearbox or the "Sport" handling modes (except when engaging Race Start)?

I used to leave mine in Sports Handling Mode and gearbox S most of the time. Felt I could get the best from the car in those modes.

Are you aware of what Sport handling mode does? Certainly in my case, I almost always drive in Sport handling mode (apart from on the Motorway as you can't use cruise control with it engaged).

I have driven with the Sport Handling mode on but i don't really get an appreciation of what changes it makes so I tend to turn it all off or just leave it in Standard mode. What does it do exactly?

Sport handling mode 'relaxes' the reign of the traction and stability controls, allowing a little bit of wheelspin along with lateral slip movements. It's fairly well judged at speed, but a little too restrictive at lower speeds for my liking (i.e. fast T-junction getaways).

OK, so thats pretty much what I thought but I don't see the benefit over turning the system off entirely. Hence my original question, at what point is it the preferred choice?

If you turn traction control off completely you will spin up the rears and be all over the place. With Sport Handling it limits the sideways action but allows just enough, basically making you look like a driving legend !

Well thats what I use it for.

Sport always brings the car back into line if you're say pulling out of a junction and getting sideways, and allows a fair bit of slip too. I keep it in Sport when wet or on the M-way, fully off otherwise (which is fine, the handling on the c63 (with an LSD I might add) is fairly docile and predictable).
