I have a W204 2008 C350 with the HK sound system (using the unfolding screen on the dash). The sounds is flipping brilliant but I've just noticed in the manual it only allows MP3 using up to 320 kbps.

Does anyone know if there is a command upgrade to using lossless music format or even music art as the screen display is pants.

Can you honestly say you need higher
than 320kbps whilst driving?

I've noticed different info on the display depending on where your MP3 is stored - on the memory card it just seems to show the file name, but on a CD it shows the artist, title etc.

320kbps is the highest bit rate of an MP3; while it'll play other formats, it doesn't do FLAC or ALAC and I can't imagine it ever will. You could fill an iPod with ALAC files and use that (if you've got the media interface in the glovebox), but I'm not sure whether the music is taken digitally from the iPod or in analogue form so it might not make any great difference.
