Hello

I am looking to buy either a CLS63 AMG or an E63 AMG. I was wondering what years the 7G Tronic Gearbox was fitted to each of these cars?

My brother owns a C63 AMG with 7 tronic and so I wanted to check what year cars would have the same gearbox.

Also with box these cars what are the common things to look out for when buying and how do the 2 compare? Age wise im hoping for about 2007 for each.

It was not, 7 speed box came with the 6.2 NA engine so was also fitted to the CLS63 CL63 etc.

Ok thanks. So both the CLS63 and E63 have 7 Tronic? Sorry if this sounds daft but is 7 tronic the only 7 speed box they make? (I know the new cars have the dual clutch box)

Yes all AMG 6.2 na cars are 7 speed, and, the new AMG bi turbos. I think, all bi turbos.

I have a 2007 CLS 63. I've heard it said that the 63 is no better than the earlier 55. I can't comment as I've only just sat in a 55. But the 63 is great. It has surpassed my expectations. Pleasingly, the rate of depreciation seems to have slowed and the prices for 55s and 63s are only about £1000 down on when I was looking 15 months ago. Perhaps the CLS AMGs are a future classic.

If you only need 4 seats, go for the CLS rather than the E class. It looks that little bit extra special, both inside and out. MPG is 22.2 according to computer but I think reality is slightly less than this. 27-28 on long run, 12 around town! Only drawback is that thieving road tax hike that kicks in 06 and later.

I believe that 55s have the SBC system that has caused some trouble but 63s, so I understand, don't have this.

Almost 15 months, one service plus one brake warning sensor faulty. I am, however, saving in case there is an expensive fault coming!

Either the CLS or the E AMG's are awesome cars for Mondeo money. Maybe not for you if you do starship miles, if you don't, take one for a test drive, you will be impressed. £20k should get you a lowish mileage one.

Hi,

I am from Greece and would like to know what -if any- expensive repairs you had to do in your car.

There is one for sale with about 100.000 kms

I ve heard the brakes are very expensive to repair

Thanks
